A series of four 8-wheel cabooses, numbered 22 through 25 originally built in 1955 by Kennecott Copper and used at the Nevada Mines Division. Presently unknown if they were built at Magna or East Ely.

Three of the KCC Nevada ore line steel cabooses (No.'s 23 - 25) went to KCC Utah after Nevada shut down. KCC Utah No. 420 (ex-NMD No. 25) was subsequently donated to the Heber Valley Railroad. The other surviving unit is No. 22 that is owned by the NNRy Museum and seen here at East Ely.

Steve Swanson remembers—

"Ore line men told me the cupola was uncomfortable in those cabooses — too small."

"You know they had so many ore line cabooses because they left them on the ore trains loaded or empty in East Ely when crews were changing or the train was sitting waiting for the next crew. There was always a train of loads or empties with a caboose sitting in the East Ely ore yard."
