Purchased new as NCCCo. No. 502; Richmond works.

Scrapped, perhaps as late as 1953.

Service Notes

Long narrow firebox and difficult to fire. Long wheelbase (19' 10" total) not conducive to pit work due to tight curves at pit bottom; tried to keep the 500's out of the bottom of the pit. The 502 was very often the switch engine working to Kimberly.
Overhauled and stored by the carpenter shop in Ruth after dieselization.
Bell extant.
